Visual Arts Studio: Exhibition and Workshops

Junction 25: Scratch Performance
Tramway’s award-winning youth theatre in-residence Junction 25, produced by Glas(s) Performance, have been working together to create a short ‘Scratch’ performance exploring the theme of failure and its impact on young people’s lives. Now in their seventh year, Junction 25 continue to go from strength to strength. You may have seen some of their previous productions: Anoesis, I Hope My Heart Goes First (a sell-out show at Edinburgh Fringe in 2011), and From Where I’m Standing.www.junction-25.com
Young Critics: Launch Clingfilm Issue 2
This group presented their first publication of Clingfilm at FRESH FACED in December 2011. This year the Young Critics have experienced the best visual and performing arts Glasgow has to offer, interviewing artists, attending events at Glasgow International Festival of Visual Arts, Buzzcut and Behaviour as well as getting behind the scenes access at Tramway. They’ll be giving away free copies of Clingfilm Issue 2 at the event and chatting about their experiences learning the craft of arts criticism with professional writer and critic Gareth Vile (Subcity, The Skinny, Vile Arts). The group are looking for new members to help them create the next issue, develop their blog and video content. Why not meet them at FRESH FACED and find out how to get involved!
The Future of FRESH FACED at Tramway?
Artist Lou Brodie will lead you through an activity to explore the question: What do the young people of Glasgow need from a contemporary art centre like Tramway?
This workshop aims to connect young people with artists, producers and curators of youth arts experiences, challenging all involved to consider what the future of the FRESH FACED programme could be. Lou has been holding hands with someone every day for 30minutes and documenting this challenge. She recently worked with Mammalian Diving Reflex on ‘Haircuts by Children’ as part of The Arches Behaviour Festival. http://loubrodie.wordpress.com
National Theatre of Scotland: Macbeth
7.30pm – 9pm
Multi award-winning actor Alan Cumming assumes every role in this radical reimagining of Shakespeare’s Scottish play. This new version of Macbeth is presented by the National Theatre of Scotland and directed by John Tiffany and Andrew Goldberg.
