Join us for an exciting week packed full of all sorts of Visual Art and Design activity! Learn loads of amazing new techniques from professional artists and makers. Be prepared to play, experiment and investigate!
The Glasgow based sculptor and Turner Prize nominee Cathy Wilkes who will be exhibing at Tramway as part of GENERATION: 25 Years of Contemporary Art will be the source of inspiration!
As part of this week Glasgow Print Studio will be delivering a 2 day intensive printmaking workshop. 2 professional artists from Glasgow Print Studio will demonstrate a variety of printmaking and construction techniques, including stencil screen-print and monoprinting. Day one will explore techniques and processes and day 2 will be student led and final artwork produced will be in response to the exhibition.
Artist Jennifer Littlejohn will lead a two-day drawing and sculpture workshop. Inspired by the Cathy Wilkes exhibition, at Tramway, participants will learn new techniques and experiment with materials. Both found and made objects will be used to tell stories. Participants will set up spaces in Tramway to create temporary imaginary environments. Expect to get messy, work as a team, play with scale and produce something unexpected.
Also contributing to the week’s activity will be the O-PiN, a jewellery collective who use a variety of materials to artistically express themselves through the medium of Jewellery design, creating objects and wearable’s O-PiN will guide workshop participants in creating Contemporary Art Jewellery based on participants personal responses to the work of Cathy Wilkes. O-PiN will explore the exhibition, discussing materials and themes and by the end of the day each participant will have a piece they can take away and the opportunity to exhibit the work at
