Young Critics

​Tramway’s young critics group explore the programme of contemporary visual art and performance in Tramway and respond to it critically.

Working with professional writer and critic Gareth Vile (Subcity Radio, The Skinny, Vile Arts) the group hone their critical writing, brush up interviewing skills, learn how to produce a fanzine, and get invited to events and performances across Glasgow. Perfect for those seeking practical experience of arts journalism, wanting to develop their writing style for college or university, or simply interested in gaining new experiences.

This term the group will be working towards the publication of a magazine, CLINGFILM Issue 3, and developing the online blog content which features writing, videos and podcasts:

This opportunity is ideal for those wishing to develop their critical abilities, explore contemporary visual and performance arts and meet like-minded people. Those studying creative subjects at higher, advanced higher, college or university level are likely to gain useful experience and develop their skills within a supportive network.

Suitable for ages 16 - 22, no previous experience necessary. New members welcome.

The first hour each week (5-6pm) is optional self-directed writing and research time. Followed by two hours of workshops on writing, critical approaches, interview techniques and design.
