The Hidden Gardens Unveils New Wildlife Area
Posted: 30 Nov 1999
On Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 May, 12pm – 4pm, the award winning Hidden Gardens celebrates the start of summer with its annual plant sale and the unveiling of its new wildlife area.
The wildlife area, created as the result of an award from BBC Breathing Places campaign, features improved habitats and planting which will encourage native birds and insects to the Gardens.
Jean Gavin, Head Gardener at the Hidden Gardens said, “The new wildlife area is going to make a real difference to the Gardens. Not only is it going to increase the number and types of bird and insect visitors that we get in the Gardens, but more people are going to be able to learn about local wildlife by visiting the Gardens and taking part in activities”.
To celebrate the launch of the wildlife area, The Gardens will be running free public workshops throughout the weekend and their will be stalls and information available from RSPB and John Muir Awards.
The same dates also see the return of the Gardens’ annual plant sale with a range of bedding and herbaceous plants available to buy. For the first time this year, visitors will also be able to pick up samples of plants on show in the Gardens and Head Gardener will be on hand to answer any tricky gardening questions.
