The first exhibition in Tramway’s new gallery space, Tramway 5, Rachel Mimiec will show work which is the culmination of her residency in The Hidden Gardens, Tramway, and observations made from her studio/ shed
Rachel Mimiec’s work is often a response to site and community, frequently using metaphor and imagery from nature to investigate the theme of survival. The installation will include a limited edition, collaborative bookwork with child psychotherapist Andrew Dawson.
Rachel Mimiec (bn Canada, 1969) graduated from the Master of Fine Art Department of the Glasgow School of Art in 2000. She lives and works in Glasgow. Previous exhibitions include Re(place) at Glasgow’s Gallery of Modern Art, 2002; and My Father is the Wise Man of the Village, 2002, Fruitmarket, Edinburgh.
