Journey To The East Festival 2023 - Artist Conversations
Journey To The East (JTTE), a celebration of queer artists of colour and allies claiming space on the Scottish main stages, presents conversations and artist dialogues as a new engagement focus of the next-edition festival.
Taking place in our Studio, the event will feature visiting cultural critics and artists who will bring in-depth conversation and discussion on relevant topics. The guest speakers this year will speak directly to key contemporary questions such as how to transform our social relations and understandings of performance and art in relation to society.
As part of this new dialogic series, JTTE explores its deeper research bases by turning a renewed interest to creative practices inspired by Eastern arts and spirituality, and their potential to navigate different territories of the human psyche and society. Programmed within a wider festival, these conversations will centre artists’ lived experience and reflect current experimental research and creative practices.
