Colette Sadler: Oracle Leaves

Ancient ruins in a sunny mountainscape

During her Tramway Supports residency Colette Sadler will be developing her upcoming performance work Oracle Leaves.

Oracle Leaves sets out to radically expand the classical mythology of Daphne and Apollo, re-writing agency, multiplicity, and an alternative continuation into the story. Conceived as a series of portraits of Daphne in motion, they will encourage us to think about individuality from the perspective of plurality, as each portrait is performed by a different dancer and accompanied by an individually conceived piece of new music.

Oracle Leaves is a search for liberation from the oppressive values and power structures of patriarchal society, a search for other ways of knowing and being, and a search for solace and hope. It reclaims female power through erotic epistemologies and an eco-feminist perspective.
