Covid Safety Information
We’re following Scottish Government guidance to help keep everyone safe. The following information gives details of how you can visit us, and what to expect when you do.
Please note, public access is currently restricted to exhibitions and ticketed events, and the Café Bar is closed.
Our safety measures will be reviewed continually and in line with government advice, and we’ll update this website with any changes to policy.
Our standard opening hours are:
Mondays – CLOSED
Tuesdays-Fridays 12 noon – 5pm
Saturdays and Sundays 12 noon – 6pm
We may open later for ticketed events.
Arriving at Tramway
We are operating at a reduced capacity, so we need to monitor visitor numbers very carefully. We are not asking you to book your visit, but as we continue to participate in the Test and Protect scheme, we require all visitors to ‘check in.’
Please check via NHS Check-In using a QR code. Staff will be on hand to help if needed, and there will be an alternative check-in for people unable to use the QR code system.
Please note, as we will be operating at reduced capacity there may be short waiting times to enter the building, and spaces within the building, especially at busy times.
Busy times tend to be Fridays, and weekends. We generally get fewer visitors on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Safety measures in the building
Once you are in Tramway, you will notice some changes in how we operate, designed to keep you safe.
- Reduced number of visitors
- Clear signage to guide people safely
- Removal of seating and changes to how you access toilets, lifts and stairs to ensure social distancing
- Hand sanitiser stations at entrance
- Regular and thorough cleaning of door handles, rails, toilets and other areas
- Asking all staff and visitors to wear face coverings while in public spaces in Tramway
The only public access within the building will be to our exhibitions, and toilet facilities.
Following safety measures
Please help to keep everyone safe by following these measures:
- Use the hand sanitisers as you enter the building
- Wear a face covering at all times indoors
- Follow our directional signage
- Keep a safe distance between yourself, staff and other visitors not in your household/bubble
Everyone needs to wear a face covering as a condition of entry. Certain people are exempt from wearing a face covering and more information can be found here.
We ask you to travel light and keep all your belongings with you as we have no cloakroom facility. Prams and buggies remain welcome.
Stay at home if you are experiencing any symptoms of Covid-19 (these are listed on the NHS Inform Website) or if you’ve recently been in contact with someone who has Covid-19.
Toilets, including accessible toilets, will be available to anyone attending an event. Our staff will be on hand to direct you.
Our Café Bar will remain closed for now.
All exhibitions are on the ground floor and wheelchair accessible.
There are also accessible toilets on all levels of the building, and our lift will be in operation at reduced capacity (only one person/visiting group at any one time).
We have seating for visitors who need it.
Tramway staff will be here to help you, but if you do have additional access requirements please contact our box office ahead of your visit so we can ensure all your requirements are met when you are here. Please call 0141 276 0950.
This number is currently manned from Monday-Friday, 10am - 4pm.
Tramway is operated by the charity Glasgow Life.
