Wheel See returns this summer!
The fully mobile, pop-up dance performance featuring 20 professional dancers will be lighting up urban spaces on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 July:

12pm – Outside Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum (Argyle Street). 20 min        

1pm – Merchant Square (as part of Merchant City Festival). 20 min, indoor performance

4pm – Queens Park (Victoria Road Gate)
*These performances will be joined by ‘Wee Wheel See’ – a cast of local children will join in for a joyful finale that emphasises the significance of community, togetherness and play. 30 min

Turn up at any or all of these locations on Saturday and Sunday to enjoy this free work inspired by flocks of birds and Critical Mass - the cycling protest movement - and created by mothers on bikes: Aya Kobayashi and Monika Smekot.

In 2023, dance artists Aya Kobayashi and Monika Smekot led a group of dancers on bikes, lighting up urban spaces across Glasgow with ‘Wheel See’ - a fully mobile, self-sufficient, outdoor pop-up dance performance featuring 20 professional dancers. Dressed in distinctive yellow rain jackets hand-painted with eyes, the dancers crossed the city on bikes, energising streets, cycle paths, parks, and bridges with movement and joy. 

This summer, ‘Wheel See’ returns with a grand finale by ‘Wee Wheel See’ — A cast of local children aged 5 to 10 join the professional dancers at the final, south side location for a joyful finale that emphasises the significance of community, togetherness and play.

This blend of cycling and bold costumes creates a powerful, poetic visual experience that adds a touch of magic to urban spaces, gently inviting audiences to revive delight and rediscover connection in their surroundings.
