Nikhita Devi - I, Honeypot

A performer, head in hands, wears an exaggerated expression of exasperation

Resident from 10 to 15 June

Nikhita Devi will be investigating the integration of Indian classical dance with burlesque, belly dance, physical theatre and clowning.

They will work in the Tramway Studio and neighbouring The Hidden Gardens, as preparation for indoor and outdoor performance based on their character ‘Honeypot,' an automaton designed to entertain and dance for audiences in a world where AI has overtaken the artist, and women’s bodies continue to be commodified. In this world, ordinary humans are forced to concentrate on the processes of production and consumption, with few resources for creativity and expression.
