About

Tramway TV, which launched on Wednesday 1 July 2020, is our strand of digital programming created to connect artists directly with online audiences.

Initially created in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the platform provides an innovative way for artists from Scotland and beyond to share their work and create dialogue with audiences outwith a venue setting.

Centred on our dedicated Instagram TV channel, Tramway TV has produced, supported and presented film, artist conversations, digital performances, and online interventions from visual artists and performance makers alike.

On its launch, the Tramway programming team explained the rationale behind its:

"Tramway TV is designed to connect people through art and experimentation, and supports our commitment to seek new ways of connecting and supporting artists and communities through this period."

But went on to explain its broader appeal:

It is a place to immerse oneself in our arts programme, from the thoughtful, rigorous and poetic, to the irreverent and DIY. It will provide a platform for a combination of film, artist conversations, digital performances, and online interventions from some of Scotland and the UK's most vital visual artists and performance makers."
