Ruby Nella/Allen

Resident 23 – 28 February 2026

Ruby Nella/Allen (who is sometimes Bury) is an artist and vocalist who works with the yelps, rhythms and textures of sound, sculpture and text. Drawing on histories of resistance, she is interested in 'mapping dissonant spaces, expressions and histories from within and without realities/ unrealities/ dreams/ portals/ tethered/untethered place.'

During her residency, she will be working with her pianoharp (piano innards), exploring the object’s heavily resonant string chamber with voice and other sound-making tools. She'll be softly focusing on developing sonic meditations and expulsions, where resonance 'acts as an anchor/ guide/ cradle of/ for/ to delay whispers, melodies and cry.'

Ruby will be joined for part of the residency by artist Hannan Jones. Together they will continue this work with the pianoharp, experimenting with analogue mixing systems, electronics, voice and instrumental sound.
