Dance North's RISE Festival at Tramway
Two must-see performances this June
Tramway and Dance North present two one-off performances as part of RISE, Dance North’s annual festival of contemporary dance and performance. The 2026 festival honours global Indigenous artists whose work connects land, story and movement worldwide.
The programme at Tramway presents work by two Indigenous artists from Turtle Island/Canada:
Lara Kramer - Gorgeous Tongue
Tramway, 3 June at 7.30pm
BOOK HERE
Lara Kramer embodies stories and dreams rooted in her Anishinaabe lineage, inviting audiences into the intimacy of her artistic constellation and toward imagined futures. Through voice, minimal sound, and material engagement, Kramer traces a metamorphosis of human and non-human, energy and friction.
Daina Ashbee - Serpentine
Tramway, 6 June from 2 - 4pm
Free and unticketed (18+ , contains nudity)
Created and choreographed by Daina Ashbee, Serpentine is an installation performance vibrating with the her dark and feminine style. Presented in 20-minute cycles that repeat and intensify, it incorporates simple imagery with an original electric organ composition by Jean-Francois Blouin, juxtaposing the haunting, at times disturbing, soundtrack with slow, sensual movement to powerful effect.
Serpentine is performed by Irène Martinez.
Part of Glasgow International Festival of Contemporary Art's Open Programme.
