Ways of Being Workshop, led by Katye Coe and Roberta Jean
Award-winning choreographer Roberta Jean premieres Ways of Being on our main stage this September. Ahead of this, Roberta Jean and collaborator Katye Coe will be facilitating a workshop combining movement practice and discussion in relation to the performance. The workshop takes place in The Work Room at Tramway.
Ways of Being is a cosmic adventure and love letter to those who have experienced depression and struggled with suicidal thoughts. Informed by historic therapeutic practices and future healing modalities, the work is a tender and euphoric dance full of hope.
This is an open level workshop open to both professional and non professional dancers.
PLEASE NOTE
The workshop includes discussion of themes of depression, trauma, suicide and drug use.
Suitable for ages 18+
This workshop will be movement based, so please wear comfortable clothing, bring socks and extra layers to keep warm.
Though workshops places are free, they have a real and tangible value. These places have been subsidised to remove barriers to participation. If you are unable to attend let us know in good time so your place can be allocated to another.
Running time: 3 hours with breaks
