Sonica 2015 at Tramway

Posted on 16 Oct 2015 in News, Visual Art, Performance, Music

We're no stranger to Sonica, the world-class sonic arts programme, having hosted its launch back in 2012. So we’re delighted to see the return of the programme this year, running from 29 October to 8 November in venues across Glasgow - including Tramway.

What's on at Tramway

On 29 October, Tramway will see Robin Fox, the festival’s inaugural Artist in Residence, joined by Australia’s Speak Percussion to present a World Premiere, TRANSDUCER, as well as the UK premiere of Fluorophone. Tramway audiences can then enjoy a triple-bill performance by Montreal-based virtuoso Herman Kolgen, including another UK premiere - of the elliptical and moving LINK.C – on 30 October. Tramway’s programme will conclude on 31 Oct with a special screening of the 1927 silent movie Wings, reimagined with live electronics and percussion by Eric Slieichim and BL!NDMAN – yet another UK premiere.

Sonica Talks

Sonica 2015 includes a running programme of artist conversations, discussions and workshops at the Centre of Contemporary Arts, Glasgow School of Art, The Lighthouse – and Tramway. Ticket holders for Robin Fox/Speak Percussion can hear them in discussion with Janice Forsyth before the concert, and those attending Wings can enjoy a post-concert conversation between BL!NDMAN, Eric Slieichim and Andrew Lockyer.

Tramway @ The Mitchell

This year, Sonica, in partnership with Tramway, is extending its reach to another of Glasgow's iconic venues. ‘Tramway @ The Mitchell’ comprises three Sonica performances in The Mitchell Theatre: Two from Mark Lyken, and a programme from this year’s Artist in Residence, Henrique Roscoe

In 2015 Sonica continues to bring together the best sonic art from across the world; Tramway looks forward to hosting some of the most exciting examples.
