PLEASE NOTE this blog was posted on 16 December 2019. Both performances are now SOLD OUT

Our first event of 2020 will be a family-friendly live music gig to bring in the New Year - courtesy of Sprog Rock and special guest Bigg Taj.

Sprog Rock - an interactive live music experience for Early Years-aged children - joins forces with the original Indian Beatboxer Bigg Taj for an irresistible set featuring tunes you might know and can join in with, and some new numbers created with children in nurseries around Scotland. We're especially delighted to welcome Sprog Rock now, as the group was originally developed as part of Katy Wilson’s Starcatchers residency at Tramway in 2010. It's fitting that the first gig of their 10th anniversary year should take place here!

Their collaboration with Bigg Taj started with a project for Bookbug, the Scottish literacy programme, when - as Katy says - Sprog Rock felt 'they needed someone cooler than them.' They couldn't have picked better. At the forefront of the Asian hip hop movement, a decade of on-stage experience has seen Bigg Taj support a who's who of hip hop – from Jurassic 5, GZA, Methodman & Redman - to legends like EPMD and Grandmaster Flash.  His musical alliance with the Sprog Rock team has been so successful it has continued and grown.

Their Sprogmanay gig will be performed at 1pm and 3.30pm on Sunday 5 January.
